Where to find the VIN on a UTV
On most side-by-sides the 17-character VIN is stamped on the frame — commonly on a frame rail near the left-front wheel or under the driver's seat — and printed on a manufacturer's label. Brands vary in placement, so check the owner's manual if it isn't obvious. The engine has its own separate serial number, which is not the VIN.
Confirm the stamped VIN matches the label and the title. Because the frame stamp is reachable, it can be tampered with on a stolen machine, so look for grinding or uneven characters and photograph the stamp to read it back against the paperwork.

How a UTV is titled depends heavily on the state.
