Visor.vin (VinVisor) Review — a car-search app, not a history report.

Visor is a car-shopping search engine run by Currents Systems Inc., a Delaware company it says was started by two brothers in late 2024. It gathers dealer listings into one map-based search, decodes the factory-installed options from each VIN, and shows every price change and how long a car has been for sale. Basic search is free; Visor Plus costs $5 a week, $15 a month or $60 a year. What it doesn't do is make vehicle history reports. Here's what each tier gets you, what its terms say about refunds, and where a VIN check fits in.

Quick Answer

What is Visor.vin?
A car-search website and app (iPhone since March 2025, Android since September 2025) from Currents Systems Inc. It searches dealer listings across the US, and Canada since October 2024: on 28 October 2026 its filters page counted 5,783,724 cars for sale. Its features include map search, price and listing history, days for sale and the options each car was built with, decoded from the VIN.
How much does Visor Plus cost?
$5 a week, $15 a month or $60 a year, in the apps and on the web, where there is also a one-time $250 purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and the subscribe page bills the annual plan as a 67% saving against monthly. We found no free trial mentioned on its subscribe page, terms or App Store listing.
Does Visor give you a Carfax or vehicle history report?
No. Visor says it "does not own or generate" these documents. For Plus subscribers it shows any Carfax, AutoCheck or window-sticker documents it has found elsewhere on the web, usually on the dealer's own site, and its listing pages warn that the documents shown "may differ or be unavailable".
From a listing to a decision

Four steps from a Visor listing to a car you can trust

Visor is good at finding the car. The VIN is what its history is filed under.

  1. 1Shortlist on VisorFilter by price drops, days for sale and, with Plus, factory options.
  2. 2Copy the VINEach listing is filed by VIN; copy it from the listing page.
  3. 3Match it to the carCheck the VIN on the dashboard and door jamb when you see it.
  4. 4Run the historyTitle brands, salvage records and odometer readings are filed by VIN.

What Visor Does

Visor is a listings search. It brings dealer inventory into one map and adds things many listing sites don't show: every price change, the listing's history, how many days the dealer has had the car, and, because it decodes each VIN, the options the factory actually installed. On 28 October 2026 its filters page counted 5,783,724 cars for sale: about 3.3 million new, 2.2 million used and 356,881 certified pre-owned.

Its seller filter has three buckets, all dealers: franchise, independent and online. When Visor Plus launched in October 2024 it promised private listings from Craigslist and eBay as well; its current list of Plus benefits doesn't mention them, so don't count on finding private-party cars there. Other tools: a "Window Sticker Verified" badge for listings Visor has checked against the factory sticker, an NHTSA safety tab with recalls, complaints, service bulletins and investigations, and a free Deal Check that reads a dealer's deal sheet and compares its prices and fees with the market.

Before you subscribe

  • No history report: Plus shows documents it found, if any.
  • Auto-renews: weekly, monthly or yearly until you cancel.
  • Refunds: none for past billing periods.
  • Bought in the app? refunds go through Apple or Google.

What Visor Plus Adds

Visor's own list of Plus benefits from its subscribe page, with what each means.

See installed options on every listingOptions decoded from the VIN rather than typed in by the dealer
See docs found across the webCarfax, AutoCheck or window-sticker documents Visor found, usually on dealer sites

Plus costs $5 a week, $15 a month or $60 a year; the web also offers a one-time $250 purchase. Prices read on 28 October 2026. In November 2024 Plus was $3.99 a week and $48 a year.

What Visor Shows, and What It Doesn't

Visor's search data and a history report answer different questions: what's for sale and at what price, and what has happened to one particular car.

From Visor's own pages and listings, read on 28 October 2026.

What Visor shows on a listing, and what a VIN history report adds

Visor and Vehicle History

Visor is clear about this in its own changelog: it "does not own or generate" the Carfax, AutoCheck or window-sticker documents it shows. Plus subscribers see whatever documents Visor has found around the web, mostly on dealer sites, and the listing page warns that the logos are examples and the documents may differ or be unavailable. If the dealer didn't post a report, there's nothing for Visor to find.

In October 2026 Visor added a title-status filter so branded listings are "easy to find or leave out." It's a useful start with a large gap: on the day we checked, 3,871,194 of 5,783,724 listings (67%) had an unknown title status, and Visor doesn't say where its title-status values come from. A listing marked clean isn't a title check.

Visor.vin — Frequently Asked Questions

Cost, data, history reports and refunds.

Is Visor.vin legit?+

It is a working car-search site and app published by Currents Systems Inc., a Delaware company, with its prices, terms and privacy notice on its own site. It's a listings search, not a vehicle history report, and it says its listing data is provided as is, without a warranty of accuracy.

Is Visor free?+

Basic search is. When Plus launched, Visor said most of what users were used to would stay free. Plus adds factory-option filters, installed options on every listing, documents found on the web, advanced controls and previous sellers, for $5 a week, $15 a month or $60 a year.

Where does Visor get its listings?+

It doesn't say who supplies them: its footer says listing data is "independently sourced". It does name some other sources: its own OpenSpec catalog built from automakers' brochures, window stickers and federal VIN filings, NHTSA for safety data, and Google Maps for dealer contact details.

Can I get a refund from Visor Plus?+

Visor's terms say it doesn't refund past billing periods. At its discretion it may refund the most recent renewal, if you ask in that billing cycle and haven't used any Plus feature since. Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google have to be refunded through that store.

Does Visor show private-seller cars?+

Its current seller filter lists only dealers: franchise, independent and online. Visor Plus promised Craigslist and eBay listings when it launched in October 2024, but its current benefit list doesn't mention them.

How is your report different from Visor?+

Visor helps you find a car and judge its price. Our report is a vehicle history by VIN: $14.99 for title brands, NMVTIS junk and salvage records, insurance total-loss records, odometer readings, and auction records with the damage the auction recorded and its photos. They work well together: shortlist on Visor, then check the VIN.
