The Flat Fees, and the Ones IAA Leaves to Branches
Every lot pays a $105 service fee, effective October 1, 2026, which IAA says covers vehicle handling such as imaging, pull-out and loading, and a $20 title-handling fee. Eligible lots with a Premium Imagery Set add $10.
IAA also lists an EH&S and fuel surcharge for energy, fuel, utility and waste-handling costs, but its fee page gives no amount, so the calculator does not add it. Storage fees, and the days you have to pay and collect, are set by each branch: IAA's help center says to check the branch page.
Not in the total
- EH&S and fuel surcharge: listed by IAA without an amount.
- Storage: per-day rates set by each branch.
- Late payment: set by each branch, with its own deadline.
- Tax and transport: depend on where the car is and where it goes.
What IAA Adds to a $3,500 Bid
On a $3,500 live online win, a non-licensed buyer pays a $705 buyer fee, a $110 live online bid fee, the $105 service fee and $20 title handling: $940, or 26.9% of the bid.
The image shows which part of that total rises with the price and which part is flat.

Licensed and Non-Licensed Schedules
IAA splits its fees by buyer segment. Which one you pay depends on the license on file and your buying volume.
Non-licensed
Buyers with no business license on file. The schedule on this page.
Licensed, Standard Volume
A business license on file, with 24 or fewer units or under $75,000 in the past 12 months, or 5 or more bidder accounts.
Licensed, High Volume
A business license, 25+ units AND $75,000+ in the past 12 months, AND fewer than 5 bidder accounts.
Heavy vehicles and Rec Rides
Separate schedules again; this calculator covers standard vehicles only.
IAA Fees vs Copart Fees
IAA's non-licensed buyer fee is the same amount, at every price we checked up to $25,000, as Copart's public buyer fee for a non-clean title paid with secured funds. The proxy and live online fees also match Copart's non-clean pre-bid and live bid fees.
The flat fees differ: IAA's $105 service fee and $20 title handling against Copart's $95 gate fee and $15 environmental fee. On a $5,000 live online win that is $1,025 at IAA and $1,010 at Copart, before the extras each auction leaves out.
