Three risks a US-only VIN check will miss.
Canadian used-car risks look nothing like American ones. A US-only report will silently pass on all three of the following.
Rebranded US imports
Roughly one in three used cars sold in Canada was previously US-titled. Salvage, flood and rebuilt brands are erased by a fresh provincial title unless you check NMVTIS in parallel.
Winter salt corrosion
Structural rust from five Canadian winters can quietly total a car. Sellers cover it with wax and underspray; the paperwork rarely mentions it.
Provincial title fragmentation
Each province titles independently. A branded car can lose its brand crossing from Ontario UVIP to Alberta Registries — only a national cross-check catches it.

Titles fragment across provinces — a car with a branded title in Ontario can lose the brand after a re-registration in Alberta. We check every jurisdiction so branding can't hide behind a move.

Canadian VIN Check — FAQ
Common questions from Canadian buyers, answered with 2025 data.
How much does a Canadian VIN check cost?+
CAD $21.99 for one full report — Canadian title continuity, Transport Canada recalls, US NMVTIS import brand overlay, Équité Association theft flags, and market value. No subscription, no upsells.
Which provinces and territories does the report cover?+
All 13 jurisdictions — Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Provincial registries checked include ICBC (BC), SAAQ (Quebec), ServiceOntario UVIP, Alberta Registries, SGI (Saskatchewan) and MPI (Manitoba).
How current is the Canadian auto-theft data?+
Équité Association's 2025 Auto Theft Trend Report counted 46,999 vehicles stolen nationally in 2025 — down 18% year-over-year from 57,359 in 2024. The Insurance Bureau of Canada recorded 25,834 theft claims worth $723.9M CAD in 2025. Our theft cross-reference queries the same national dataset used by Canadian insurers.
Does the report catch odometer rollbacks?+
Yes. Carfax Canada detected 20,642 vehicles with rolled-back odometers through vehicle history reports in 2025. Our report tracks every mileage reading recorded at inspection, title transfer or provincial registration; a mileage that goes down over time is a strong rollback signal.
Will a US-imported car show its US title brands?+
Yes. Roughly one in three used cars sold in Canada was previously titled in the US. Our report cross-references NMVTIS so any US salvage, flood, rebuilt or non-repairable brand is shown alongside the Canadian title — a washed brand can't hide behind a re-issued provincial title.
Does the report include Transport Canada recalls?+
Yes. Every report is checked against Transport Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls database. Transport Canada's recall system is separate from the US NHTSA — a Canadian-only report from a US provider will miss any Canadian-only open recall.
Is my French Canadian VIN check available in French?+
Yes. All Canadian reports ship bilingual EN/FR. Quebec visitors are automatically routed to the French version of the landing page (vérification VIN Canada) so they never have to hunt for a language toggle.
How fast is the Canadian report delivered?+
Reports are generated in under 60 seconds. Canadian VINs (starting with the character "2") are automatically routed to the Canadian data channel; US-titled cars run against NMVTIS in parallel so you see both title continuities side by side.
