Quick Answer
- How do I check a Lexus recall by VIN?
- Enter the 17-character VIN into the recall check on this page. It is printed on the lower driver-side corner of the windshield, on the driver's door jamb and on the registration. The check decodes the VIN to its exact year, make and model and lists the NHTSA recall campaigns filed for it, free and without an account. The full history report lists the recalls returned for that exact VIN. Whether a repair was done is in the manufacturer's records, which a Lexus dealer or NHTSA's VIN lookup can confirm.
- How many recalls does Lexus have?
- For the 2023–2024 ES 350 and RX 350 and the 2022 IS 350, NHTSA's recall search returned 7 recall campaigns. NHTSA's recall search matched no 2022 ES 350 or RX 350, and no 2023–2024 IS 350, so those model-years are not counted. The largest group, 3 of the 7, is filed under back over prevention. Across the make, NHTSA lists recalls on 24 Lexus model names for 2024 alone. The count that matters for a purchase is the one for that car's VIN.
- Are there Lexus do-not-drive recalls?
- None of the 7 campaigns sampled here, for the 2023–2024 ES 350 and RX 350 and the 2022 IS 350, carries NHTSA's do-not-drive or park-outside warning. Other Lexus models and years can, so check the VIN of the car in front of you.
Which systems Lexus recalls involve
For a 2022 IS 350, put the fuel pump campaign first: its remedy text records interim letters to owners, with more promised once the final remedy is available, so ask a dealer whether the pump replacement can be done yet. The camera campaigns are dealer software updates, and the campaign filed under back over prevention software, returned for the 2024 RX 350, also lets the dealer replace the camera.

Lexus recalls on NHTSA's record, 2022–2024
On the ES 350 and RX 350, rearview camera campaigns recur, filed by NHTSA as back over prevention, and the 2024 RX 350 also draws seat and seat belt campaigns.

Sample: the 2023–2024 ES 350 and RX 350 and the 2022 IS 350, the Lexus models with the most US searches. NHTSA lists recalls on 24 Lexus model names for 2024 alone, so this is part of the make's record, not all of it. NHTSA's recall search matched no 2022 ES 350 or RX 350, and no 2023–2024 IS 350, so those model-years are not counted. NHTSA's own VIN lookup covers them. A campaign is listed under each sampled model NHTSA's search returned it for; its own text sets the versions and VINs it covers, which can be narrower (one engine or body) or wider (other models). A VIN check lists the campaigns filed for one car's exact year, make and model.
A model-year list can’t tell you about one Lexus. Its VIN can.
Recall campaigns, title brands, reported accidents and odometer records follow the VIN.
What the latest Lexus campaigns say
NHTSA's own wording, shortened. A campaign covers a VIN range, so a listed model year does not mean every car of that year is included.

Do-not-drive and park-outside warnings
NHTSA flags a campaign when the risk is serious enough that owners are told not to drive the vehicle, or to park it outdoors away from buildings, until the repair is done.
None of the 7 campaigns in this sample carries either flag. That is a statement about these models and years only; a VIN check lists the campaigns filed for one car’s exact year, make and model.
Buying a used Lexus: checking recall status
A recall belongs to a range of VINs, and whether the repair was done belongs to one car. Both questions are answered by the VIN, not the model name.
On the ES 350, the camera campaigns are bounded by equipment as well as VIN range: they name vehicles fitted with the Panoramic View Monitor. A 2023 or 2024 ES 350 without that system sits outside them, while an ES 350 with it still needs its VIN checked.
Open or closed is a question for a Lexus dealer or NHTSA's VIN lookup. On a 2023 RX 350, bring up the steering column spiral cable campaign by name, since its filed consequence is a driver's air bag that does not deploy as intended.
A 2024 RX 350 can also fall under the front head restraint campaign, remedied with new head restraint assemblies, and the second-row center seat belt campaign, remedied with an inspection and a new belt if needed. Add those to the same VIN question rather than judging by the seats.
The Lexus customer line printed in these campaigns' remedy notices is 1-800-331-4331.
How recall repairs and owner notices work
When a manufacturer has to notify owners of a safety defect, federal law requires it to remedy the defect without charge when the vehicle is presented for remedy. The manufacturer chooses how: repairing the vehicle, replacing it with an identical or reasonably equivalent vehicle, or refunding the purchase price less a reasonable allowance for depreciation (49 U.S.C. 30120).
The free remedy has an age limit. It does not apply if the vehicle was bought by its first purchaser more than 15 calendar years before the recall notice was given (49 U.S.C. 30120(g)). Every model year sampled on this page is inside that window.
Owner letters go by first-class mail to each registered owner the manufacturer can identify through state records, no later than 60 days after it files its defect report under Part 573, with a second letter once the remedy is available if it was not at first (49 CFR 577.7). A car bought used, or registered at an old address, can miss both, which is why a used car's recall status is checked by VIN.

Lexus Recall Check FAQ
What NHTSA’s record shows for these models, and what only a VIN can answer.
How do I check a Lexus recall by VIN?+
Enter the 17-character VIN into the recall check on this page. It is printed on the lower driver-side corner of the windshield, on the driver's door jamb and on the registration. The full history report lists the recalls returned for that exact VIN. Whether a repair was done is in the manufacturer's records, which a Lexus dealer or NHTSA's VIN lookup can confirm.

Yes, within a legal age limit. Federal law requires the manufacturer to remedy a safety defect without charge, by repair, replacement or a refund less depreciation, whichever it chooses (49 U.S.C. 30120). That duty does not apply if the vehicle was first bought more than 15 calendar years before the recall notice.
What is the latest Lexus recall?+
Among the campaigns NHTSA's recall search returned for the 2023–2024 ES 350 and RX 350 and the 2022 IS 350, the most recent is 26V222000, received by NHTSA on April 8, 2026: Fuel system, gasoline › Delivery › Fuel pump, returned for the 2022 IS 350. How will I be told about a Lexus recall?+
The manufacturer mails a letter by first-class mail to each registered owner it can identify through state records, no later than 60 days after filing its defect report with NHTSA, and a second letter once the remedy is available if it was not at first (49 CFR 577.7). The Lexus customer line printed in these campaigns' remedy notices is 1-800-331-4331. A car bought used, or registered at an old address, can miss the letters, so check the VIN before you buy.
