Quick Answer

How much does CarVins charge?
$5.50 for one CARFAX or AutoCheck report as a guest, $4.50 as a member. Both reports together are $8.25, or $6.75 for members. Member credit packs run from 5 for $20.00 to 50 for $150.00, and it says credits never expire.
Is CarVins an official CARFAX partner?
Its FAQ says: "We partner directly with CARFAX and AutoCheck to provide bulk purchasing power." We could not verify that independently. CarVins does not appear on the Justice Department's list of the 12 companies approved to sell NMVTIS reports to consumers.
Does CarVins give refunds?
Its FAQ describes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and says refunds are processed "for unused reports or quality concerns". Its footer links to separate terms, privacy and refund pages returned "not found" when we opened them on 23 October 2026.

What CarVins Sells

CarVins.net sells CARFAX and AutoCheck vehicle history reports by VIN, delivered by email and kept in your account. Its home page headline is "Instant VIN history reports with official CARFAX and AutoCheck reports!" and a badge reads "Official Partner Data". A free account takes $1.00 off each report, which it calls an 18% member discount.

It also sells a $500.00 dealer plan described as unlimited CARFAX and unlimited AutoCheck reports. The page we read did not state the period the $500.00 covers. Its FAQ says reports cover cars, trucks, SUVs and vans, with motorcycles, RVs and boats not yet supported, and that it includes Canadian history where a car was registered or serviced in Canada.

Before you pay CarVins

  • The partnership: its claim; we could not verify it.
  • Policy pages: terms, privacy and refunds returned "not found".
  • The $500.00 dealer plan: no period stated.
  • Not NMVTIS-approved: not on the Justice Department's consumer list.

What CarVins Says, and What We Could Check

Some of what CarVins publishes can be checked from outside, and some can't. Its prices, packs and guarantee are on its own page. Its statement that it partners directly with CARFAX and AutoCheck is its own claim; we found nothing on its site beyond the claim itself.

Its footer links to terms, privacy, refunds and contact pages. Each returned "page not found" when we opened it on 23 October 2026, so the 30-day guarantee in its FAQ is the only refund wording we could read. The contact address it gives is help@carvins.net.

Is CarVins an NMVTIS Provider?

CarVins does not appear on the Justice Department's list of the 12 companies approved to sell NMVTIS reports to consumers. That list is about the federal title database, which CARFAX and AutoCheck reports are not: the Justice Department's page says "Consumers CANNOT receive NMVTIS Vehicle History Reports from Carfax, DMVDesk, or Experian; these entities provide information only to car dealerships." CarVins' own FAQ describes AutoCheck as owned by Experian.

None of that makes a CARFAX or AutoCheck report less useful. It means the report you buy from CarVins is a commercial history report, resold, and that the federal title and brand history is a separate thing you can also check.

CarVins vs Our Report

CarVins is cheaper per report. The trade is in what the report is and whose policies apply.

CarVins

  • CARFAX or AutoCheck, $5.50 guest or $4.50 member
  • Member credit packs down to $3.00 a report
  • 30-day satisfaction guarantee, per its FAQ
  • Partnership with CARFAX and AutoCheck claimed, not verifiable by us
  • Not on the Justice Department's approved NMVTIS list

Our full report

  • Title brands and NMVTIS junk and salvage records
  • Insurance total-loss records
  • Odometer readings
  • Auction records with damage and photos, where the car was auctioned
  • $14.99 single, $9.00 each in a 10-pack; free preview first
  • No account needed; nothing renews

Our report does not include police or repair-shop accident entries.

Before You Buy a CarVins Credit Pack

A pack is the cheapest way to buy from CarVins, at $3.00 a report for 50 credits, but it is $150.00 paid up front to a site whose separate refund page wasn't loading when we checked. Buying a single member report first costs $4.50 and shows you how delivery works.

If the car is on a dealer's lot, ask for the dealer's own CARFAX or AutoCheck copy first. And whatever report you buy, check the title side separately: brands such as salvage, flood or rebuilt come from state title records.
