Copart Fee Calculator — every fee on top of your bid.
A Copart win is never just the bid. Copart adds a buyer fee that depends on the price, the title type and how you pay, a virtual bid fee for bidding online, a $79 or $95 gate fee and a $15 environmental fee. The calculator below uses Copart's own public-buyer tables, read on 16 October 2026.

Quick Answer
- How much are Copart fees?
- For a public buyer winning a non-clean-title car with secured funds and a live bid, Copart's fees come to $570 on $1,000, $1,010 on $5,000, $1,270 on $10,000. A clean title costs a little less; non-secured funds cost noticeably more.
- What fees does Copart charge a buyer?
- A buyer fee from a price table, a virtual bid fee if you bid online, a gate fee ($79 clean title, $95 non-clean) and a $15 environmental fee. Title mailing, storage, a $50 late fee and relisting penalties apply when they are triggered.
- How much is a Copart membership?
- Guest is free but cannot bid. Basic is $99 a year: without a deposit you can bid on one vehicle a day up to $2,000, and a deposit of 10% of your buying power raises the limit. Premier is $249 a year with a $400 refundable deposit and bids up to $100,000 a day.
Five numbers to add before you bid
Do the sum first, then set your maximum bid. The fees rise with the price, so the cap has to come out of your budget, not on top of it.
- 1Check the title typeClean and non-clean titles use different buyer-fee and gate-fee schedules.
- 2Know how you will payIf any part of the payment uses non-secured funds, the higher table applies.
- 3Add the virtual bid feePre-bids cost a little less than live bids; under $100 both are free.
- 4Add gate and environmental fees$79 or $95, plus $15, on every lot.
- 5Then transport and taxStorage starts at the yard's own rate if pickup is slow; transport and sales tax are separate.

The Fixed Fees on Every Copart Lot
Two charges do not depend on the price at all. Every purchase pays a gate fee, $79 on a clean title and $95 on a non-clean one, which Copart says covers administration and moving the car to the buyer loading area. Every item also pays a $15 environmental fee.
Getting the title costs extra: up to 10 titles from one location mailed for $15 by USPS or $20 by FedEx, and $20 per title picked up in person. Copart needs a Limited Power of Attorney on file to mail titles.
Penalties to avoid
- Late payment: $50 per vehicle if not paid within 3 business days, counting the sale day.
- Relist: not paid in 8 calendar days, the car is relisted at 10% of the sale price, minimum $600.
- Storage: rates vary by yard; check the location page before you bid.
- Finance: $69 flooring fee through Copart-affiliated finance companies.

What Copart Adds to a $5,000 Bid
On a $5,000 live bid for a non-clean-title car paid with secured funds, the buyer fee is $775, the virtual bid fee $125, the gate fee $95 and the environmental fee $15: $1,010 in all, or 20.2% of the bid.
The image breaks that total down, so you can see which part moves with the price and which part is fixed.

Why the Same Bid Can Cost More
Two choices move the buyer fee. The title type: at $5,000, the secured buyer fee is $750 on a clean title and $775 on a non-clean one, and the gate fee rises from $79 to $95. The payment funds: non-secured funds raise the same non-clean buyer fee to $1,025, taking the total from $1,010 to $1,260.
The gap widens at the top. From $15,000, the non-clean buyer fee is 7.5% with secured funds and 12.5% with non-secured funds: $1,500 against $2,500 on a $20,000 car. A clean-title car with the same bid costs $953 in fees at $5,000.
Copart Fees vs IAA Fees
On a non-clean title with secured funds, Copart's public buyer fee and IAA's public buyer fee are the same amount at every price: we compared the two tables at every whole dollar up to $25,000. The online bid fees match too.
The difference is in the flat fees. Copart adds $95 for the gate and $15 environmental; IAA adds a $105 service fee and $20 title handling. At $5,000, that makes $1,010 at Copart against $1,025 at IAA, before storage, title mailing and transport.
