Quick Answer
- How do I check a Cadillac recall by VIN?
- Enter the 17-character VIN into the recall check on this page. It is printed on the lower driver-side corner of the windshield, on the driver's door jamb and on the registration. The check decodes the VIN to its exact year, make and model and lists the NHTSA recall campaigns filed for it, free and without an account. The full history report lists the recalls returned for that exact VIN. Whether a repair was done is in the manufacturer's records, which a Cadillac dealer or NHTSA's VIN lookup can confirm.
- How many recalls does Cadillac have?
- For the 2022–2024 Escalade and XT5 and the 2022–2023 CT4, NHTSA's recall search returned 15 recall campaigns. NHTSA's recall search matched no 2024 CT4, so that model-year is not counted. The largest group, 3 of the 15, is filed under power train. Across the make, NHTSA lists recalls on 8 Cadillac model names for 2024 alone. The count that matters for a purchase is the one for that car's VIN.
- Are there Cadillac do-not-drive recalls?
- None of the 15 campaigns sampled here, for the 2022–2024 Escalade and XT5 and the 2022–2023 CT4, carries NHTSA's do-not-drive or park-outside warning. Other Cadillac models and years can, so check the VIN of the car in front of you.
Cadillac recalls on NHTSA's record, 2022–2024
The XT5 and Escalade each carry their own run of campaigns; apart from daytime-running-light software shared by the CT4 and Escalade, no campaign crosses between sampled models.

Sample: the 2022–2024 Escalade and XT5 and the 2022–2023 CT4, chosen by US search demand and by how often NHTSA lists them. NHTSA lists recalls on 8 Cadillac model names for 2024 alone, so this is part of the make's record, not all of it. NHTSA's recall search matched no 2024 CT4, so that model-year is not counted. NHTSA's own VIN lookup covers it. A campaign is listed under each sampled model NHTSA's search returned it for; its own text sets the versions and VINs it covers, which can be narrower (one engine or body) or wider (other models). A VIN check lists the campaigns filed for one car's exact year, make and model.

What the latest Cadillac campaigns say
NHTSA's own wording, shortened. A campaign covers a VIN range, so a listed model year does not mean every car of that year is included.

NHTSA 24V459000Reported June 20, 2024—Electrical system › Instrument cluster/panel
Returned for the 2023–2024 XT5 in this sample.
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The instrument panel may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."
Risk: Without the illuminated reminder, the driver could fail to turn off the lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Cadillac's customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447940.
A model-year list can’t tell you about one Cadillac. Its VIN can.
Recall campaigns, title brands, reported accidents and odometer records follow the VIN.
Which systems Cadillac recalls involve
The engine campaign over possible connecting rod and crankshaft defects is returned for gas-engine Escalades in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Its remedy begins with an inspection: dealers repair or replace the engine as necessary, and engines that pass get higher-viscosity oil, an oil fill cap and a new oil filter, so ask which outcome this Escalade had.

Do-not-drive and park-outside warnings
NHTSA flags a campaign when the risk is serious enough that owners are told not to drive the vehicle, or to park it outdoors away from buildings, until the repair is done.
None of the 15 campaigns in this sample carries either flag. That is a statement about these models and years only; a VIN check lists the campaigns filed for one car’s exact year, make and model.
Buying a used Cadillac: checking recall status
A recall belongs to a range of VINs, and whether the repair was done belongs to one car. Both questions are answered by the VIN, not the model name.
A model-year match only starts the check, because campaigns cover VIN ranges and sometimes a drivetrain: the fuel tank rollover valve campaign on the 2022 XT5 reaches all-wheel-drive vehicles.
The low-brake-fluid warning fix on the 2023 and 2024 Escalade and the daytime-running-light fix on the CT4 and Escalade can be installed over the air, which may leave no dealer visit on file for either. Ask a Cadillac dealer to confirm by VIN whether they are closed.
NHTSA's VIN lookup shows any recall still open on a given car. A 2023 XT5 is named in the sun-gear campaign and in the half-shaft campaign, so ask about each by name rather than accepting that the drivetrain work was done.
The Cadillac customer line printed in most of these campaigns' remedy notices is 1-800-458-8006; where a campaign prints another number, use that one.
How recall repairs and owner notices work
When a manufacturer has to notify owners of a safety defect, federal law requires it to remedy the defect without charge when the vehicle is presented for remedy. The manufacturer chooses how: repairing the vehicle, replacing it with an identical or reasonably equivalent vehicle, or refunding the purchase price less a reasonable allowance for depreciation (49 U.S.C. 30120).
The free remedy has an age limit. It does not apply if the vehicle was bought by its first purchaser more than 15 calendar years before the recall notice was given (49 U.S.C. 30120(g)). Every model year sampled on this page is inside that window.
Owner letters go by first-class mail to each registered owner the manufacturer can identify through state records, no later than 60 days after it files its defect report under Part 573, with a second letter once the remedy is available if it was not at first (49 CFR 577.7). A car bought used, or registered at an old address, can miss both, which is why a used car's recall status is checked by VIN.

Cadillac Recall Check FAQ
What NHTSA’s record shows for these models, and what only a VIN can answer.
How do I check a Cadillac recall by VIN?+
Enter the 17-character VIN into the recall check on this page.
How many recalls does Cadillac have?+
For the 2022–2024 Escalade and XT5 and the 2022–2023 CT4, NHTSA's recall search returned 15 recall campaigns.
Are there Cadillac do-not-drive recalls?+
None of the 15 campaigns sampled here, for the 2022–2024 Escalade and XT5 and the 2022–2023 CT4, carries NHTSA's do-not-drive or park-outside warning. Other Cadillac models and years can, so check the VIN of the car in front of you.
Are Cadillac recall repairs free?+
Yes, within a legal age limit. Federal law requires the manufacturer to remedy a safety defect without charge, by repair, replacement or a refund less depreciation, whichever it chooses (49 U.S.C. 30120). That duty does not apply if the vehicle was first bought more than 15 calendar years before the recall notice. In this sample, NHTSA flags 2 campaigns as fixable with an over-the-air software update.
What is the latest Cadillac recall?+
Among the campaigns NHTSA's recall search returned for the 2022–2024 Escalade and XT5 and the 2022–2023 CT4, the most recent is 26V085000, received by NHTSA on February 13, 2026: Power train › Automatic transmission › Control module › Software, returned for the 2022 Escalade. Rear wheels that lock up while driving increase the risk of a crash. New campaigns are added as manufacturers file them, so run the VIN for the current list.
How will I be told about a Cadillac recall?+
The manufacturer mails a letter by first-class mail to each registered owner it can identify through state records, no later than 60 days after filing its defect report with NHTSA, and a second letter once the remedy is available if it was not at first (49 CFR 577.7). The Cadillac customer line printed in most of these campaigns' remedy notices is 1-800-458-8006; where a campaign prints another number, use that one. A car bought used, or registered at an old address, can miss the letters, so check the VIN before you buy.
