Four questions before you pick a VIN report plan
A plan is cheaper per report only if you run enough reports. These questions settle it.
- 1How many cars this month? One or two cars: a single report. A car-flipping month: a plan can pay.
- 2Divide the plan by its cap$25.00 for 20 reports is $1.25 each — only if you use them all.
- 3Note the renewal dateA membership renews monthly until you cancel it.

What VIN Clarity Sells
VIN Clarity sells vehicle history reports by VIN or license plate. Its pricing page lists accident and damage records, odometer and mileage checks, title and lien history, open recalls and safety ratings, and theft and salvage records in its reports. A single report is $10.00, paid once.
The membership is $25.00 a month and includes 20 reports a month, vehicle monitoring and alerts, recall alerts and market-value tracking. Its terms of service name the operating company as DataX.
Its two options
- $10.00: one report, one-time payment.
- $25.00 a month: 20 reports a month plus monitoring.
- Cancel anytime: from the dashboard; the plan ends with the billing cycle.
When the VIN Clarity Plan Pays Off
At $25.00, the plan costs as much as 2.5 single reports. Run 3 or more reports in a month and it is cheaper; run fewer and single reports win. Used to its 20-report cap, the plan works out at $1.25 a report.
For one car, a one-time report is the simpler buy. VIN Clarity's single report is $10.00 and ours is $14.99; ours adds auction records with the damage recorded and photos where the car went through an auction.
